Temporary Closure

"Everything we do before a pandemic will seem alarmist. Everything we do after will seem inadequate.”- Michael Leavitt

Out of an abundance of caution and after a tremendous amount of research and contemplation, I will be temporarily closing my practice starting Wednesday, March 18 at noon. I will remain closed at least through the end of March and will reassess my decision as we learn more. I, like everyone else, hope that this will resolve as quickly as possible, and I am trying to do everything possible to help flatten the curve and keep Flagstaff and the rest of the country and world as safe as possible.

I hope that my decision will act as an example. While I love helping my patients and know that patients benefit from regular treatments and might suffer some small setbacks if they miss a couple of appointments, also I recognize that I do not provide critical care, and I am going to follow the lead of most other non-essential medical offices. The chance that my clinic will inadvertently spread the virus is too great a risk to take right now. Medical experts, the WHO, the CDC, and many local and state governments are recommending what might seem like fairly drastic social-distancing measures, and I cannot ignore this advice and merely hope for the best. Although we are far from having a clear understanding of COVID-19 and although Flagstaff does not yet have any proven cases, we do know that asymptomatic carriers can still spread the virus. Although I always maintain as clean an office as possible, I am not set up for infectious disease containment on this level.

Please do not hesitate to call (928-266-6261) or email me ([email protected]) if you would like to discuss my decision or if you have any questions about the condition for which you were receiving treatment. I might be able to give you some advice on at-home exercises you can do or on other methods of self-care, and we could set up Zoom sessions if needed. I also have many herbal formulas in stock that can help with acute trauma, acute and chronic pain, symptoms of the common cold, difficulty sleeping, and stress, among other things. If you are interested in herbs, I am happy to do a phone consult.

Again, I am saddened to have to close the clinic, even if just for two weeks in a best-case scenario, but I am confident that this is the right decision. I look forward to seeing everyone again once this all calms down and hope that if we all take the necessary social-distancing measures now, before we are hit hard by the virus, we will be able to resume “normal” life fairly soon.
